artyfakt films is the intellectual and artistic domain of Louis Moya. Louis' professional experience comes from all phases of video and film production, from pre-production to post, with most of his professional experience as an editor. He has worked for Zone 2 Post Production, Disney, Showtime, CBS, as well as for renowned directors Norman Jewison (The Hurricane), Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu(Amores Perros, 21 Grams), and Christopher Coppola(Bloodhead). Louis has also had his screenplay This Piece From the End, which he directed, executively produced by Christopher Coppola and PlasterCity Productions.
His documentary about Tibetan Buddhism, Monlam Aspiration was shot over a two month journey in Nepal and India with the help of an exiled Tibetan lama, and has recently been distributed domestically and internationally by Snow Lion Publications.
A native of Taos, New Mexico, Louis Elias Moya graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors from the media arts program of the University of New Mexico and his work has been utilized as learning material for the production department of the UNM Media Arts Program.
He is a National Hispanic Scholar, a recipient of UNM Outstanding Senior Award, the Charles Edward Brown and Katherine McBride Brown Scholarship, UNM College of Fine Arts "Fine Arts Finest" Award, the Hosea Ibanez Scholarship from Wesleyan University, and has received a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Louis was also Assistant Director, Cinematographer, and Editor for the award winning short, BABOF, which recieved honors as the "2003 Alibi Short Film Festival Official Selection", the "2004 Los Angeles Int'l Film Festival Official Selection", as well as the "2003 Digifest Southwest Audience Award", and the "2003 Digifest Southwest Best Cinematography Award".
